The continuing trust and confidence of Korean ship owners in the ability and professionalism of Filipino seafarers, considered the world's best, has resulted in a new manning company based in Manila to service the needs of one of Korea's fastest growing ship management firms.
POS-FIL Ship Management Corporation was incorporated in 2010 and received its license to operate in December of the same year. The company is a joint venture of STX Marine Service Ltd. of South Korea and Astra Marine International (Philippines), two of the most seasoned ship management companies in the Asia-Pacific region whose partnership dates back to at least 15 years prior to their joining of forces.
The joint venture company formally opened its offices on January 14, 2011 at the Jemarson Place Building along Pilar Hidalgo Lim Street in Malate, Manila and immediately pursued the task of recruiting, training and deploying Filipino seafarers for STX Marine Service growing fleet of commercial sea vessels. STX Marine Service is programmed to launch at least 15 new vessels
POS-FIL is led by its President, Capt. Gaudencio C. Morales, in coordination with their principal STX Marine Services. The company plans to initiate a professional development program, which includes staff exchange between its offices in Busan (South Korea) and Manila. It aims to expose the staff to the business practices and culture of the two countries to gain a better understanding and appreciation of their work. Since its launching, POS-FIL has joined industry associations in the Philippines such as the Joint Manning Group.
